The Business Section. (#4)

Careful, now: the Thrill Kill Kult is not worth getting hurt over.

The Ogden Theater, mentioned in passing in my book A Western Capitol Hill. An art and revival movie house during my high school years, now refurbished as a concert venue popular with young Denverites like the protagonist in my book. Also seen in the movie About Schmidt, as Jack Nicholson's character drives his Winnebago past the East Colfax landmark.

The Texture Of Capitol Hill. (#16)

Mansion On The Hill. (#1)

Statuesque -- and, at times, spooky-looking -- mansion at the corner of 12th and Pennsylvania. The kind of place where a character in A Western Capitol Hill might leave a severed head on one of the fence posts.

Here's another photo of the mansion (Judge Benedict's house) taken in 1899. Thanks Denver Public Library: what a great collection of photos you have online thanks to your Western History & Geneology department.
